the balloon helps people who are too obese for a diet alone, but do not want or need a surgical procedure to lose weight.
Is the Spatz 3 balloon suitable for every patient?
First, it should be determined whether the stomach is healthy i.e. whether there are any ulcers.
Eating disorders such as bulimia, severe mental disorders, malformations of the stomach or esophagus, pregnancy, alcohol or drug addiction, as well as the intake of blood coagulation inhibitors or blood thinning medications can be contradictory to this treatment. In rare cases there are further hindering factors.
In order to prevent risks, we are taking our time with each patient for thorough examination and questioning.
How is the balloon inserted?
The balloon is placed in the stomach without any surgical procedure.
The yet folded balloon is inserted into the esophagus via gastroscopy. When it has reached the stomach, it is inflated with a sterile saline solution. Once inflated, the balloon is too big to travel down to your intestines and sits perfectly under the stomachs entrance.
Is the procedure painful?
No, thanks to light anesthesia, the patient “sleeps” through the short procedure, not feeling a thing.
How much weight can I lose with the Spatz 3?
In combination with competent dietary consulting and the willingness to exercise, a weight loss of 15 to 30 kilograms is possible. The more motivated the patient, the better their outcome!
